Whiteville Man Facing Weapons, Drug, and Hazardous Littering Charges Following Search

CHADBOURN, N.C. — A Whiteville man was taken into custody late Thursday evening following a multi-offense investigation on Peacock Road that yielded two handguns, ammunition, and multiple controlled substances.

Detective William D. Holden of the Columbus County Sheriff’s Office led the investigation at 10430 Peacock Road around 10:17 p.m. Official logs show deputies seized a Phoenix Arms .22 caliber handgun with a magazine and nine rounds, a Taurus G3c 9mm handgun with three magazines and 36 rounds, 1.3 grams of crack cocaine, two oxycodone tablets, and four buprenorphine strips.

Deputies arrested Jamie Ted McCray, 46, of Pleasant Hill Road, Whiteville. McCray faces a list of charges including:

  • Felony Possession With Intent to Manufacture, Sell, or Deliver Schedule II Controlled Substance

  • Felony Possession With Intent to Manufacture, Sell, or Deliver Schedule III Controlled Substance

  • Felony Maintain Place for Controlled Substance

  • Felony Littering Hazardous Waste

  • Misdemeanor Simple Possession Schedule II Controlled Substance

  • Misdemeanor Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

  • Misdemeanor Carrying Concealed Gun (2 counts)

  • Misdemeanor Assault on a Female

  • Misdemeanor Assault by Pointing a Gun

McCray was placed in the Columbus County Detention Center under a $60,000 secured bond.
