WHITEVILLE — Deputies recovered a stolen U‑Haul van Friday afternoon after locating the vehicle at a business on South Vinson Boulevard, according to an incident report.
Deputy Isaiah Taylor responded around 3:35 p.m. and confirmed the GMC Savana was listed as stolen by U‑Haul. A 60‑year‑old man at the scene was identified in the report, though no charges were listed as of Monday.
U‑Haul thefts have become more common nationwide, with the company reporting increased losses tied to unreturned rentals and fraudulent reservations.
The case remains under review.
