Three Arrested After Riegelwood Drug Bust Nets Trafficking-Level Narcotics and $9,000 Cash  

RIEGELWOOD, NC — A multi-unit investigation into local drug activity culminated in the execution of a search warrant at a Riegelwood residence, leading to the arrest of three individuals and the seizure of trafficking-level narcotics and thousands in cash, according to the Columbus County Sheriff’s Office.

Investigators with the Sheriff’s Office Special Operations Division Vice/Narcotics Unit, working alongside the Criminal Investigation Division, executed the warrant at 705 Hoover Road following an extensive surveillance operation targeting the home, which belongs to George Munn.

During the raid, officers uncovered trafficking amounts of heroin/opium, along with quantities of cocaine, methamphetamine, oxycodone, and marijuana. In addition to the illegal substances, investigators seized more than $9,000 in U.S. currency pursuant to the North Carolina Unauthorized Substances Tax Act.

Three suspects were taken into custody at the scene:

  George Munn was charged with two felony counts of trafficking in opium or heroin, possession with intent to manufacture, sell, or deliver a Schedule II controlled substance, possession with intent to manufacture, sell, or deliver methamphetamine, two counts of possession with intent to manufacture, sell, or deliver marijuana, felony maintaining a dwelling for controlled substances, felony maintaining a vehicle for controlled substances, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of marijuana paraphernalia.

  Gyrell Munn was charged with possession with intent to manufacture, sell, or deliver cocaine, possession with intent to manufacture, sell, or deliver marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of marijuana paraphernalia.

  Tara Nobles was charged with possession with intent to manufacture, sell, or deliver cocaine, possession with intent to manufacture, sell, or deliver marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of marijuana paraphernalia.

In a statement released Friday, Sheriff W. A. Rogers reaffirmed his office’s commitment to curbing illegal drug operations across Columbus County, emphasizing that proactive enforcement and collaborative unit operations will remain a priority to remove illegal narcotics from local neighborhoods.
