System Pressure Advisory Issued for East Main Street, Sunset Beach

Water main break causes low pressure and outages; boil‑water notice in effect

Sunset Beach, NC — Brunswick County Public Utilities has issued a System Pressure Advisory for customers along East Main Street in Sunset Beach, where a water main break has caused periods of low pressure and intermittent outages.

The affected area includes East Main Street, addresses 435 through 602, impacting approximately 45 residential connections. Customers are being notified through door hangers and ReadyBrunswick alerts.

Periods of low or no pressure increases the risk of back‑siphonage, which can allow bacteria to enter the water system. Until further notice, Brunswick County Public Utilities and the N.C. Division of Water Resources advise residents to boil all water or use bottled water for human consumption. This includes drinking, making ice, brushing teeth, washing dishes, and preparing food. Water should be brought to a rolling boil for one minute to eliminate potential contaminants.

The advisory will remain in place until laboratory testing confirms the water is safe and Brunswick County issues a formal cancellation notice.
