The Town of SUNSET BEACH, NC — The Sunset Beach Town Council has scheduled a Special Meeting for Tuesday, June 30, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. in Council Chambers to enter into closed session under two provisions of North Carolina law.
According to the notice, part of the closed session will be held under N.C.G.S. 143‑318.11(a)(3) for the purpose of consulting with an attorney employed or retained by the Town. The statute allows the Council to meet privately with legal counsel in order to preserve attorney‑client privilege, which the Town formally acknowledges in the announcement.
The Council will also meet under N.C.G.S. 143‑318.11(a)(6) to consider matters involving the qualifications, competence, performance, character, or fitness of an individual public officer or employee. This provision also permits the Council to hear or investigate a complaint, charge, or grievance involving a public officer or employee.
If the Council takes action following the closed session, the meeting will be streamed live on the Town’s YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/@townofsunsetbeach640
