Sunset Beach, NC — Effective immediately, the Town of Sunset Beach has enacted a temporary, town‑wide ban on all outdoor fire pits, chimineas, smokeless stoves, and similar combustion devices due to extreme drought conditions and heightened fire spread risk.
The restrictions prohibit the use of all wood‑burning and propane‑fueled fire pits, chimineas, smokeless stoves, and any form of open‑air burning. Gas‑powered grills and charcoal grills remain permitted, provided they are kept at least 10 feet away from structures, pine straw, and surrounding vegetation.
Town officials emphasized that the ban will remain in place until weather conditions improve.
