Southport to Begin 4th of July Event Road Closures at Midnight

Expect Road Closures for the Southport 4th of July Event (Bay Street, Southport NC)

Southport, NC — Southport Police Department will begin staged road closures at midnight tonight, June 30, 2026, as preparations get underway for the 2026 NC 4th of July Festival. Officers will close Bay Street between South Atlantic Avenue and Davis Street, and Davis Street to Moore Street, starting at 12:00 a.m. to allow Arts and Crafts vendors to begin setting up at 7:00 a.m. on July 1, 2026.

Additional closures will begin at 5:00 p.m. on July 1, when SPD will shut down the full event zone to accommodate food vendor staging. Intersections affected include South Howe Street and Moore Street, Bay Street and South Howe Street, I Am Alley and Bay Street, and Davis Street and Bay Street.

Southport police department (SPD) also reminds residents and visitors that golf carts, bicycles, skateboards, e‑bikes, electric scooters, and electric boards are not permitted inside event areas or on sidewalks during the festival period. Officers will strictly enforce these restrictions to maintain public safety.

All streets within the designated festival area will remain closed through midnight on July 4, 2026.
