Starting a backyard flock or want to learn the right way to care for chicks, the farm welcomes the community to learn and grow together

Located in Ash, NC, Old School Farm is a family‑run, community‑driven mission rooted in heritage and hands-on learning. Operated by Air Force veterans, the farm focuses on teaching practical self‑sufficiency so families can rely less on systems and more on their own skills.
The Old School Farm hosts workshops that make homesteading approachable for beginners and meaningful for seasoned growers.

The farm owners are offering a free Incubation 101 class, scheduled for March 21 from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., walks participants through the full incubation process from egg to hatch. Attendees will see newly hatched quail chicks, learn how incubation works, understand temperature and humidity control, watch a live demonstration of setting chicken eggs, and follow the full 21‑day development cycle. Each participant receives a simple guide to help them try hatching eggs at home.
