SC Man Faces 22 New Charges after Forensic Phone Scan Reveals Graphic Material, Police Say

Nadjrick Onandi Randy Peat (HCSO)

Nadjrick Onandi Randy Peat, 25, was hit with 22 additional counts following a multi-agency investigation into his digital footprint, according to the Horry County Sheriff’s Office.

The investigation into Peat began earlier this year when he was arrested by the Conway Police Department and charged with criminal sexual conduct. Following that initial arrest, local police and the Fifteenth Judicial Circuit Solicitor’s Office requested specialized assistance to examine the suspect’s electronic devices.

Investigators with the Horry County Sheriff’s Office Electronic Crimes Task Force conducted a deep-dive forensic analysis of Peat’s phone, which authorities say uncovered a hoard of illicit files.

According to a statement released by the sheriff’s office, an investigator identified multiple media files on the device depicting a minor engaged in explicit sexual activity. A further technical examination of the phone’s communication data revealed that several of those files had already been actively distributed to other individuals via messaging platforms, including WhatsApp and Apple’s iMessage.

As a result of the task force’s findings, prosecutors authorized a massive expansion of the criminal case against Peat. The 22 new charges filed against him include:

  • 6 counts of sexual exploitation of a minor (First Degree)

  • 8 counts of sexual exploitation of a minor (Second Degree)

  • 6 counts of sexual exploitation of a minor (Third Degree)

  • 1 count of contributing to the delinquency of a minor

  • 1 count of unlawful dissemination of obscene material to a person under 18 years of age

The Horry County Sheriff’s Office has not released further details regarding the identity or exact age of the minor involved, citing the ongoing nature of the investigation and the need to protect the victim.

Peat remains held as judicial proceedings move forward in the Fifteenth Judicial Circuit. It was not immediately clear if he has retained an attorney to speak on his behalf regarding the new wave of charges.
