Robert “Bob” Thomas Mello, 78, of Calabash, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on June 6, 2026.
Born in Jersey City, New Jersey, to Arthur and Virgina Mello (née Troyer), Bob is survived by his loving wife, Gloria (née Scillieri-Sarro); his son, Arthur Dornik, and his wife, Hope; his stepchildren, Michele Miranda, Dana Ruff, Keith and Christine Sarro, Howard Jr. and Denise Sarro; and his grandchildren, Keaton Sarro, Aiden Sarro, Will and Sam Dornik, Tyler and Emily Miranda, Ashley Riley, Brittany, Michael and Brandon Itro and Hannah Goldberg. He was predeceased by his son, Michael Mello, in 2024.
A veteran of the US Airforce, Bob held the rank of Sgt. Reg AF trained as a Ground Radio Communications Equipment Repairman. A talented guitarist and singer, he performed with a successful event band named, “Everyday People” throughout New Jersey. Bob enjoyed fly fishing with longtime friends in Roscoe, Catskills New York. Bob was also an avid golfer. He spent much of his career in sales and co-owned: Olympic Wire & Cable and then Bomar Interconnect Products before retiring. In retirement, Bob and his wife divided their time between Calabash, North Carolina, and Roscoe, New York.
Bob was a kind and caring person who went out of his way to help others. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held in New Jersey.
In Bob’s memory, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
