Riegelwood, NC — Residents in Riegelwood, Columbus County reported a possible tornado Saturday afternoon as a sudden fast‑moving storm passed through the area. Several readers shared photos showing low‑level rotation and scattered debris, but the National Weather Service has not confirmed a tornado touchdown.
The reports came in shortly after the storm moved across the U.S. 74/76 corridor near Riegelwood around 3:25 p.m. No tornado warning was issued, and the NWS Wilmington office has not yet released a storm survey or official damage assessment. Local emergency officials have not reported any injuries.
