One Person Killed in Three‑Vehicle Crash on N.C. 87

Rear‑end collision pushed vehicle into oncoming lane, triggering fatal impact

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC — The North Carolina State Highway Patrol says one person was killed this afternoon in a three‑vehicle crash on N.C. 87 near the Danford Road intersection.

Troopers reported that the collision happened around 2:25 p.m. when a northbound vehicle slowed to make a left turn. A second vehicle traveling behind it failed to stop and struck the turning vehicle from behind. The impact pushed the first vehicle into the southbound lane, where it collided with a third vehicle.

SHP confirmed that one person died at the scene. The identity of the deceased has not been released pending next‑of‑kin notification. The crash remains under investigation.
