Ocean Isle Beach, NC — A new dedicated public safety facility is in the works for Ocean Isle Beach, ensuring vital emergency operations remain readily available during severe weather events and busy summer months.
Planned for 3 and 5 W. 3rd Street, the project comes following the demolition of the former town hall in 2024, which was torn down after inspections determined that repairing and upgrades to the aging structure would be too costly.
Michael Walker of Tych & Walker Architects, LLC drafted the updated designs for the facility. The layout features three emergency vehicle bays, an increased number of bunk rooms, and a dedicated space for staff to shelter and operate during severe weather. Additionally, the building has been designed to accommodate space for another department to be on-site when operational needs require it.
Town officials continue to move the project through the planning stages to improve local emergency response capabilities and protect essential response equipment.
