OAK ISLAND — One of Oak Island’s most popular and colorful traditions returns next week as the town hosts its annual Mardi Gras by the Sea Parade & Festival on Saturday, February 21, 2026.
The celebration begins with the Mardi Gras Parade at 11 a.m., stepping off from SE 63rd Street and making its way through town with decorated floats, local groups, and plenty of beads. Crowds typically line the route early, and town officials expect another strong turnout for 2026.
Following the parade, the festivities shift to the Middleton Park Complex, where the Mardi Gras Festival will run from noon until 4 p.m. The afternoon event will feature food vendors, local crafters, a dedicated Kids Zone, and live music throughout the day.
Town officials describe Mardi Gras by the Sea as one of Oak Island’s “most celebrated and anticipated events,” drawing families, visitors, and residents for a full day of entertainment.
The event is free to attend, and organizers encourage the public to view and share event details at OakIslandNC.gov/Events.
