Officials report rough surf and no safe water depth identified along the shoreline

OAK ISLAND, NC — Friday, July 10, 2026 Beach Safety officials have issued a RED FLAG for Friday due to high risk of rip currents, hazardous surf, and unstable water conditions.

No safe water depth has been identified anywhere along the shoreline, and conditions are expected to remain dangerous throughout the day.

The beach is open, but ocean swimming is not permitted under a red‑flag advisory. Visitors are urged to stay completely out of the water until conditions improve.
