NCDOT Highway Division 2 has been recognized with Second Place for Best Regional Wildflower Planting (Eastern Region) in the 2025–2026 Wildflower Awards. The honor highlights the division’s roadside bed at U.S. 70 and N.C. 148 in Lenoir County, a site noted for its strong seasonal color and pollinator support.
The Wildflower Awards, sponsored by The Garden Club of North Carolina, celebrate standout plantings maintained by NCDOT’s Roadside Environmental teams. The program, now in its 40th year, evaluates sites on visual appeal, plant health, maintenance, and environmental benefit.
Division 2 serves Beaufort, Carteret, Craven, Greene, Jones, Lenoir, Pamlico, and Pitt counties, and its recognition places it among the top-performing divisions statewide for 2025.
