Nancy Joan Ward Veltre, age 76 of Tabor City and formerly of Nakina died Saturday April 18, 2026, at McLeod Loris Hospital in Loris, SC. Nancy was born on April 7, 1950, daughter of the late Ernest Cameron Stephens and Wilma Dean Simmons and her adopted mother who raised her, Ida Delight Ward.
A graveside service will be held 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, at the Hosea Simmons Cemetery, Whiteville, NC.
The surviving family include her children, Jennifer C. Jackson (James) of Myrtle Beach, SC and William Charles Jones (Kelly) of Wilmington; her sister, Kay Ward Green and her husband, George David Green of Myrtle Beach, SC; grandchildren, James Jackson, III, Joseph Curtis Jackson, Allison Payne, Kaitlyn Marie Jones, Emily Ann Jones, Anthony William Jones and Nicholas Charles Jones; niece, Katherine Denise Green; and a nephew, Michael David Green; and a great-nephew, Nathaniel Green.
