SCHP chase began after motorcycle failed to stop for blue lights

MYRTLE BEACH, SC — Two people were seriously injured early August 2, 2026, after a motorcycle crashed during a South Carolina Highway Patrol pursuit on Robert Grissom Parkway at 21st Ave. N. in Myrtle Beach.

The incident began at approximately 1:30 a.m. when a Trooper attempted a traffic stop on a motorcycle carrying a passenger. The driver did not stop for blue lights, prompting a brief chase. Moments later, the motorcycle left the roadway, struck a curb, and collided with a tree.

Both individuals were wearing helmets and were transported to the hospital with serious injuries. No damage was reported to the SCHP vehicle involved.

Authorities are continuing to review the circumstances surrounding the pursuit and crash.
