WHITEVILLE, N.C. — Inmates at the Columbus County Detention Center received an unexpected gesture of compassion in December when a local ministry delivered hundreds of Christmas Bible sets to the facility, offering a meaningful reminder of hope during the holiday season.

Jennifer Renee Kostyal, founder and CEO of Transformed By The Word Ministries Inc., visited the detention center alongside Gwen Bullard. The Bible sets were distributed to every inmate, a donation that officials say have already brought comfort, encouragement, and renewed spiritual interest among those incarcerated.

Kostyal, whose ministry focuses on outreach, healing, and faith‑based support, this effort was part of a broader mission to reach individuals in difficult circumstances.

The Bible sets were intended not only as holiday gifts but as year‑round resources for personal growth, emotional healing, and spiritual grounding. Early feedback from inmates suggests the materials are having a meaningful impact.

Detention center officials expressed appreciation for the donation, noting that community‑driven acts of kindness can play an important role in supporting the well‑being of those in custody.
