SOUTHPORT — Creativity will take center stage this Friday and Saturday as Brunswick Community College’s Southport Center for Heritage Arts hosts MAY‑nia, a two‑day arts and crafts sale and open house packed with student work, artisan demonstrations, live music, and family‑friendly activities.

Running May 22–23 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 701 N. Lord St., the event transforms the campus into a lively showcase of local talent. Visitors can browse colorful student artwork, meet emerging creators, and enjoy performances from UYA‑affiliated musicians whose sets will fill the grounds with energy throughout the weekend.

MAY‑nia blends the feel of a community festival with the hands‑on spirit of a working arts center. Guests can watch skilled artisans demonstrate woodturning, blacksmithing, and pottery, explore a curated plant sale, and sample food from on‑site vendors. Children’s activities and interactive art stations add to the family‑friendly atmosphere.

Organizers say the event is designed to highlight the depth of creativity in the region while giving students and local makers a platform to share their work.

“This is one of the most vibrant weekends of the year for the Southport Center,” organizers said. “It’s a chance for the community to see what our students and artisans are creating, and to celebrate the arts together.”

With Memorial Day weekend approaching, MAY‑nia offers a festive kickoff for residents and visitors looking to support local talent, shop handmade goods, and enjoy a relaxed, creative start to the holiday stretch.

The event is sponsored by Downtown Southport, Inc. and Brunswick Community College.

Admission is free, and all are welcome.
