BOILING SPRING LAKES, NC — The City of Boiling Spring Lakes has named Matt Kirkland, MPA, AICP, as its new City Manager. A North Carolina native, Kirkland brings years of experience in planning and public administration to the role.
Kirkland has lived in Brunswick County for eight years. He earned his undergraduate degree from North Carolina Wesleyan College and a Master of Public Administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill’s School of Government.
Before joining Boiling Spring Lakes, Kirkland served as Planning Director and Development Services Director for the Town of Oak Island. His background also includes work as Senior Planner for the Town of Leland, Planner and Interim Planning Director for Johnston County, and service as a sworn Sheriff’s Deputy in Wayne County, where he worked with the Animal Services Department.
Outside of his professional career, Kirkland enjoys spending time with his family and two dogs, playing guitar, and cooking.
“I’m honored to serve as City Manager of Boiling Spring Lakes,” Kirkland said. “I look forward to working with residents, staff, and local leaders to help shape a bright future for our city.”
