Loris Teen Wanted in Critical‑Injury Case Now Charged With Murder, Police Say

Loris, SC — The teenager Horry County Police warned residents about earlier this week is now facing murder and weapons charges after investigators say the case has progressed into a fatal shooting.

Jamarius O’Neil Brown, 19, was the focus of an August 9 public alert after officers began searching for him in connection with a critical‑injury incident on Ino Drive. That earlier report can be read here: Police Warn Public as Armed Teen Sought in Loris Critical‑Injury Case.

According to an updated release from Horry County Police, Brown was served with warrants on Aug. 11 for murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime. The charges stem from what investigators now say was a deadly shooting inside the home Brown shared with his grandfather. Police say the victim, Brown’s grandfather, died from his injuries.
