NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, SC — August 11, 2026 King Tides are expected to affect the North Myrtle Beach area today and continue through tomorrow, bringing the potential for minor flooding in low‑lying parts of the city.
City officials said the elevated tides may push water onto some side streets, though widespread flooding is not anticipated based on current forecasts. Homeowners in flood‑prone neighborhoods are encouraged to secure outdoor furniture, garbage cans, and other loose items that could be displaced or damaged by rising water.
Residents and visitors should expect typical King Tide conditions, including brief periods of water over the roadway in vulnerable areas. Fire Rescue officials urged motorists to avoid driving through flooded streets, noting that even slow‑moving vehicles can create a wake that sends water into nearby homes and properties. Drivers are asked to treat flooded streets as “No Wake” zones to help reduce the risk of additional damage.
If barricades or cones are placed across a roadway, officials stressed that drivers should not move or bypass them, as hazards may exist beyond the closure.
