Lake Waccamaw Woman Charged in Early-Morning Hit-and-Run Incident

LAKE WACCAMAW, NC — A Lake Waccamaw woman was arrested early Tuesday following an investigation into a traffic collision that left at least one person injured.

Elizabeth Ann Respess, 43, of 4019 Waccamaw Shores Road, was taken into custody at 12:53 a.m. on July 28 by Columbus County Sheriff’s deputies.

Investigators allege Respess was driving left of center when the collision occurred and subsequently fled the scene. She faces felony charges for hit-and-run driving resulting in injury, as well as a misdemeanor citation for driving left of center. Respess was placed in the Columbus County Detention Center with no bond set.

Any individuals listed are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
