Columbus County native brings local experience and multi‑agency service to the department.
LAKE WACCAMAW, NC — The Lake Waccamaw Police Department has added a new member to its ranks, welcoming Officer Terry Wayne Whaley Jr. to the team.
Whaley, a lifelong Columbus County resident from Nakina, currently serves as a full‑time officer with the Whiteville Police Department. His addition to Lake Waccamaw comes with the support of Whiteville Police Chief Paul Rockenbach, who approved Whaley’s part‑time service with the town.
Beyond his law enforcement background, Whaley has longstanding ties to the Lake Waccamaw community through his work with the Lake Waccamaw Fire Department and EMS. Town officials say his familiarity with the area, combined with his training and public‑safety experience, strengthens the department’s ability to serve residents.
Whaley’s appointment reflects the department’s continued effort to build a team rooted in community knowledge, readiness, and service.
