COLUMBUS COUNTY — Jeff Allen Jones, owner of Jones Media Partners LLC, has officially sold his 50% stake in Audiotraxx Media Partners LLC — the parent company of AM 1540 WTXY and 103.9 FM W280FO — to co-owner Glasgow Hicks III. The transaction became final when the Federal Communications Commission approved the transfer on February 25, with the action published in the FCC Daily Report on February 27.
Jones did not mince words about the end of the partnership.
“After six and a half long years, shedding Hicks and WTXY from my business portfolio feels like a big weight has been lifted off my shoulders,” Jones said. “It’s tough to conduct business when the left hand doesn’t know what the right hand is doing. When the person you’re in business with can’t be honest with you — telling you what you want to hear and then doing whatever they want — it’s time to dissolve a partnership. It’s taken Hicks almost three years to make the buyout deal, but now that it’s happened, I couldn’t be happier. I wish Hicks and his staff all the best going forward.”
With the sale complete, Jones continues to expand his footprint in digital media. Under Jones Media Partners LLC, he owns and operates BC News & Dollar-Saver, a modern digital news outlet serving Brunswick and Columbus Counties. Jones is no stranger to digital publishing, having created and overseen Columbus County News in Whiteville for more than five years.
He also operates MY RADIO ZONE, a global network of 20 digital audio channels offering a wide range of music formats. In addition, Jones is preparing to launch a new regional weather network focused on coastal communities in southern North Carolina and northern South Carolina — a project expected to debut in the coming months.
