Jack William Gann, age 56, passed away peacefully at his home in Myrtle Beach SC on July 27, 2026 surrounded by family. Jack was courageous in his fight against a rare and aggressive colon and liver cancer. He is now at peace with his Lord and Savior in his heavenly home.
Jack was born on July 19, 1970 in Radford, Virginia to Grace Elizabeth Byrd Gann and James Edward Gann Sr. Jack was raised in Floyd, Virginia with his 2 brothers and 1 sister. Jack is preceded in death by his parents James Gann Sr and Grace Gann, one sister Stella and one brother James.
Left to cherish his memory are: loving wife of 26 years, Pamela, his son Asher age 21 and daughter Liberty age 17; brother and sister-in-law John and Cathi Gann of Newton NC; sister-in- law Alecia Gann of Newport VA; mother-in-law Lavina Rattai of Winnipeg, MB, Canada; brother- in-law and sister-in-law Shawn and Louise Rattai of Winnipeg, MB, Canada; several nieces, nephews including great nieces and nephews.
Jack worked 27 years as a Physical Therapist Assistant. He also completed his training as a Massage Therapist in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada in 2002. Jack spent much of his life helping other people while he himself was battling challenges with pain after a serious car accident in his early 20’s. Jack took on his Tae Kwon Do journey during his years in Minnesota and he was
active in teaching others and he built a small TKD community in northern Minnesota teaching both adults and children. Getting his Black Belt was a major accomplishment for him and he continued until he reached his 5th Degree Black Belt last year in May 2025.
Born and raised in Floyd VA, Jack moved to Martinsville, VA in 1998 for his first PTA job where he met his wife, Pamela. They were both working in the therapy department at the hospital there. Jack moved up to Canada to be with Pamela in 1999. After marrying, the two of them moved to Minnesota. It was in Minnesota where they were raising their 2 kids, Asher and Liberty, until the year 2020. During the COVID pandemic, the family relocated to Myrtle Beach SC. Pamela often thanked Jack that it was one of the best decisions they ever made. The family readily accepted beach life and they have Jack to thank for their new beginning.
Jack grew up in the mountains and spent his summers in Myrtle Beach. Fly high Jack. We know your love for the mountains and your love for the beach will be forever your paradise in God’s heavenly kingdom.
A Memorial Service for Jack will be held on Saturday, August 15, 2026 from 2:00pm to 4:00pm at Myrtle Beach Funeral Home – 4505 US Highway 17 Bypass South Myrtle Beach.
