Gardner, Mishoe and Cooper score 496 out of 500 while representing our region on a national stage
Horry County, SC — The Horry Electric Journeyman Team – Hunter Gardner, Dawson Mishoe and Bryson Cooper carried a bit of home with them as they headed north to Virginia for the 2026 Gaff‑n‑Go Line Worker’s Rodeo, a major gathering of line workers from across the country. For folks here in Horry County, these are familiar names, linemen who work the same roads, neighborhoods and storm calls we rely on year‑round.
The trio kicked off the weekend in the Altec Equipment Operators Rodeo before stepping into the main journeyman competition the next day. Facing 52 teams from across the nation, the Horry Electric crew posted an impressive 496 out of 500 points, earning a 22nd‑place finish in one of the toughest fields they’ve ever seen.
Their trip to Virginia comes on the heels of a standout moment back in March, when the team was named the Overall Journeyman Team at the South Carolina Lineman’s Rodeo. Since then, they’ve spent long hours practicing, often after regular shifts to make sure our region was well‑represented on the Gaff‑n‑Go course.
For many here at home, their performance is more than a score. It’s a reminder of the skill, grit and quiet dedication of the linemen who keep our communities running. Residents and co‑op members are encouraged to join in congratulating Gardner, Mishoe and Cooper on another strong showing and for representing our area with pride.
