Tip from national cyber watchdog leads to three felony counts
HORRY COUNTY, SC — The Horry County Sheriff’s Office Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force has arrested Howard Christopher Cook, 34, on multiple child‑exploitation charges.
Investigators say they received a cyber tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children regarding alleged criminal activity occurring on the AI platform Grok. Following the tip, deputies obtained a search warrant and continued the investigation.
Cook is charged with three counts of Sexual Exploitation of a Minor.
According to the sheriff’s office, the case will be prosecuted by the South Carolina Attorney General’s Office.
