Fire Rescue recruiters connect with future first responders at a long‑running university partnership
Horry County, NC — Horry County Fire Rescue recently took part in the Coastal Carolina University Career & Internship Fair, continuing a long tradition of engaging with local students who are exploring careers in public safety.

HCFR’s presence at CCU is part of a broader outreach effort that dates back more than twenty years. The department has consistently partnered with CCU, Horry‑Georgetown Technical College, and area high schools to strengthen the pipeline of future firefighters and EMTs. These events help introduce students to the fire service, highlight HCFR’s nationally recognized training program, and encourage young adults to consider a career rooted in service, teamwork, and community protection.
Students visiting the HCFR booth learned about the department’s structured hiring process, advancement opportunities, and the essential role HCFR plays in responding to more than 70,000 calls annually across Horry County.
