HOME AT LAST: Tunnel to Towers Dedicates Mortgage‑Free Home to Local Veteran

HCPD Officer and veteran Doug Salkeld Raise The Flag at the Family’s New Home (HCPD Provided)

Conway, SC — Horry County Police Department and Horry County Fire Rescue joined Tunnel to Towers Myrtle Beach on Saturday, June 20, 2026, to celebrate the dedication of a mortgage‑free home for retired U.S. Air Force Senior Airman Jabrier Lee and his family. The home is located off Highway 90 in Conway.

SrA Lee lost his sight in 2013 during his third year of service while deployed to Afghanistan. Despite the life‑changing injury, he has continued to move forward with determination, competing in wheelchair rugby and wheelchair basketball as he pursues opportunities to compete at the highest levels.

The Tunnel to Towers Foundation works to provide mortgage‑free homes to injured veterans, military members, and first responders, helping them build stability and independence.

Team Horry personnel said it was an honor to take part in the celebration and recognize Lee’s service. HCPD Officer and veteran Doug Salkeld helped raise the flag in front of the family’s new home as part of the ceremony.
