High-Speed Chase Ends in $100K Bond for Whiteville Man

Whiteville NC – Matthew Ryan Heye, 21, of Whiteville, was booked into the Columbus County Detention Center following an arrest by the Whiteville Police Department. Heye faces a serious felony charge for fleeing/eluding arrest with a motor vehicle. Additionally, he was hit with a slew of traffic and alcohol-related misdemeanors, including driving after consuming under 21, reckless driving with wanton disregard, speeding, having an open container after consuming alcohol, failing to stop at a flashing red light, and failing to burn headlamps. Heye is being held on a $100,000 secured bond.
