Columbus County Sheriff’s Office Incident Blotter

The following incidents were reported by the Columbus County Sheriff’s Office between July 30 and August 3, 2026.

Property Crimes, Theft & Vandalism

• Cerro Gordo (July 30): Deputies responded to a breaking and entering/felony larceny on Cherry Grove Road. A 65-year-old victim reported the theft of a Chevrolet Tahoe valued at $5,000.

• Chadbourn (July 30): A larceny was reported on Old Hwy 74 after a 77-year-old victim had a Kawasaki Mule 600, valued at $1,500, stolen.

• Whiteville (July 30): An incident of obtaining property by false pretense was reported on Spruce Street involving $100.

• Chadbourn (July 31): A mailbox valued at $100 was vandalized/destroyed on Grist Road.

• Riegelwood (July 31): A 55-year-old male was suspected of shoplifting assorted soaps and body sprays valued at $72.07 from the Piggly Wiggly on Hwy 87.

• Hallsboro (July 31): Siding valued at $100 was damaged at a property on Bradly High Road.

• Whiteville (August 1): A major breaking and entering was reported at Country Village Estates. Suspects stole roughly $6,800 worth of property, including a large outdoor central AC unit, an Intertherm hot water heater, a window AC unit, door knobs, and a power cable.

• Clarendon (August 2): A breaking and entering/larceny on RJ Hinson Drive resulted in the theft of a plastic bottle of coins valued at $1,500.

• Whiteville (August 3): Deputies responded to a vandalism incident on Fisher Drive where an estimated $4,800 worth of crops were damaged.

Drugs & Narcotics

• Whiteville (July 30): A 33-year-old male was found in possession of methamphetamines and Suboxone pills at Southeastern Community College on Chadbourn Highway.

• Whiteville (August 1): A 42-year-old male was cited for felony possession of a Schedule II controlled substance (methamphetamine), simple possession of a Schedule III controlled substance (Suboxone), and possession of drug paraphernalia (cut bags and straws) at Whiteville Plaza.

Assault, Harassment & Personal Offenses

• Whiteville (July 30): An incident of indecent liberties between children was reported at the Sheriff’s Office, involving two juvenile female victims (ages 7 and 10) and two juvenile male suspects (ages 10 and 12).

• Chadbourn (July 31): A domestic violence and larceny incident was reported on Pleasant Hill Drive, involving multiple victims and a 28-year-old male suspect.

• Tabor City (July 31): Deputies documented a “Cause of Death” report on Wright Road concerning a 75-year-old female.

• Delco (July 31): A harassment complaint was filed on Chevrolet Drive involving a 25-year-old female victim and a 25-year-old male suspect.

• Clarendon (August 1): A 28-year-old male suspect on Vinegar Hill was charged with malicious conduct by a prisoner, assault on a female, and resisting a public officer.

• Whiteville (August 3): An incident was logged at the NC Dept of Corrections on Prison Camp Road involving a Sergeant McKoy, though no specific offense description was provided in the log.

Trespassing

• Cerro Gordo (July 30): Deputies responded to a trespassing incident on Cedar Grove Church Road.

• Chadbourn (August 1): A trespassing incident was reported on Larry Drive involving a 35-year-old male suspect.
