Get Storm Ready: Leland to Host 6th Annual Hurricane Expo June 13

Residents can connect with emergency experts and grab official preparedness guides at the Leland Cultural Arts Center.

LELAND, NC — With hurricane season approaching, the Town of Leland is inviting the community to prioritize safety at the sixth annual Hurricane Expo.

The event is scheduled for Saturday, June 13, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Leland Cultural Arts Center, located at 1212 Magnolia Village Way. The expo serves as a comprehensive resource for residents to prepare for potential tropical weather with guidance from local, state, and federal experts.

Direct Access to Experts

Attendees can meet with representatives from over a dozen agencies to discuss evacuation routes, emergency kits, and recovery planning. Participating organizations include:

  • Safety & Rescue: Leland Fire, Police, and the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office.

  • Weather & Emergency Management: The National Weather Service and Brunswick County Emergency Management.

  • Utilities & Services: H2GO, Brunswick Electric (BEMC), and the NC Department of Insurance.

Preparedness Tools

The town will distribute its official Hurricane Guide to help families create localized plans. In addition to educational materials, attendees can enter a drawing for a chance to win a rain barrel.
