Gas Prices Keep Dropping in Columbus and Brunswick Counties

Gas prices are sliding again across North Carolina, and drivers in Columbus and Brunswick counties are getting some of the best deals in the state. Many stations are now sitting comfortably in the mid‑$2.00 range, which is well below the statewide average of $2.69 for regular fuel.

In Columbus County, several Whiteville stations are coming in between $2.42 and $2.47 a gallon. Over in Brunswick County, Shallotte continues to lead the way, with multiple stations holding steady at $2.37. For anyone filling up this week, it’s a welcome sight.

A few things are working in everyone’s favor right now. Crude oil prices have been trending down nationwide, which lowers costs for refineries. U.S. oil production is still running strong, adding more supply to the market. And winter‑blend gasoline is cheaper to produce, especially during a season when demand naturally dips after the holidays. Put together, it’s creating a steady slide at the pump.

For now, drivers in both counties can expect prices to stay in this range unless something major shifts in the global supply chain. At the moment, Columbus and Brunswick remain two of the most affordable places to fill up in southeastern North Carolina.
