ALL CLEAR: Scene has been cleared, the hazard has been removed, all roads are back open.

As of: April 20, 2026, 5:12 p.m.

A gas leak on West West Street continues to keep the roadway shut down. The 200 and 300 blocks of West West Street, along with the 200 and 300 blocks of Caswell Avenue, remain closed to traffic.

Residential citizens in the affected area have been evacuated while the gas company works to contain the leak.

The incident has not yet been brought under control.

Authorities are urging the public to avoid the area until further notice.

SOUTHPORT, NC — A gas leak has forced the closure of the 200 and 300 blocks of West West Street, along with the 200 and 300 blocks of Caswell Avenue.
