FORD MUSTANG RECALL: Ford has issued a new safety recall for certain 2024–2026 Mustang models after discovering a defect that can cause windshield wipers to malfunction in freezing temperatures. The problem stems from an incorrectly programmed semiconductor chip inside the wiper motor, which can limit the system to high‑speed operation or prevent the washer function from working at all.
The recall covers 67,842 vehicles, including the 2025–2026 Mustang GTD. Ford notified dealers on July 2, 2026, and the recall was publicly posted through federal regulators on July 7–8. Interim owner letters were mailed between July 8 and July 15, with full remedy instructions scheduled for release in late March 2027.
Ford says dealers will inspect the wiper motor and replace it at no cost to owners. The company warns that reduced visibility during winter weather increases the risk of a crash.
Owners can check their vehicle’s status using Ford’s VIN lookup tool or by contacting a local dealership.
