ADR and mutual‑aid partners bring structure fire under control

Columbus County, NC — Acme‑Delco‑Riegelwood Fire‑Rescue responded at 4:41 p.m. on March 4, to a reported structure fire on Beaver Ridge Drive in Riegelwood. Smoke was showing on arrival, prompting firefighters to launch an immediate interior attack to locate and extinguish the fire.

Crews conducted a rapid search of the residence and confirmed that no occupants were inside. During the search, firefighters located the family dog and removed the pup to safety. ADR’s ambulance crew provided oxygen on scene, and the little one recovered well.

The fire was brought under control in just under two hours through coordinated efforts among responding agencies.

Mutual‑aid support was provided by:
– Northwest Fire Department
– Bolton Fire Department
– Buckhead Fire & Rescue

Smoke detectors inside the home were actively sounding when firefighters arrived, underscoring the importance of working alarms.

Officials encourage residents to test their smoke detectors regularly, replace batteries, and ensure devices remain in proper working order.
