Family activities, contests, live music, and a Memorial Day tribute planned for Saturday’s event in Tabor City.

Tabor City, NC — Fifty-Five Athletics will hold its official Ribbon Cutting Ceremony this Saturday, May 23, beginning at 10:00 a.m at 102 Lynwood Norris Road in Tabor City. The daylong event will feature food, family activities, live entertainment, and a special Memorial Day tribute.

Fifty-Five Athletics is a Tabor City nonprofit built on impact, service, and legacy. The organization is working to revitalize the Lake Tabor Field facilities to provide a place for the community to play, gather, and reconnect. Organizers say they want residents to feel part of the effort and part of the momentum surrounding the project.

A $12.00 plate sale will be offered with a choice of Pork Chop or Chicken plates, catered by Nell’s Chophouse & Catering. Proceeds support the organization’s programs. Concessions will also be open throughout the day.

A live DJ will provide music during the morning and early afternoon. In partnership with the Veterans Memorial Park of America, the event will include a Memorial Day tribute and a $5.00 flag sponsorship opportunity to honor fallen service members.

Kona Ice will be on site, and children may participate in a series of field contests for $30.00, including the Home Run Derby, Longest Hit Competition, Bunt Contest, and Base Running Contest.

The band Tastes Like Chicken will close the event with a live performance beginning at 4:00 p.m. Attendees are encouraged to bring blankets or lawn chairs for field seating. RSVPs and contest registrations may be completed by texting 910.207.1703.
