Fisher, Southern Style Nuts, Squirrel Brand, and Target’s Good & Gather mixes pulled after ingredient supplier flags contamination risk; products sold nationwide, including in North Carolina.
FDA RECALL: A nationwide recall is underway for several popular snack mixes after a seasoning ingredient used in their production tested positive for a potential Salmonella contamination, according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
John B. Sanfilippo & Son, Inc. (JBSS) voluntarily recalled multiple varieties of Fisher, Southern Style Nuts, and Squirrel Brand mixes, along with Target’s Good & Gather Mexican Street Corn Trail Mix. The issue traces back to a dry milk powder ingredient supplied by California Dairies, Inc., which was recently linked to possible contamination.
The recall covers a wide range of Best By dates extending into 2027. No illnesses have been reported. Because the products were distributed nationwide, the FDA notes they may be present in North Carolina homes, including items purchased at Target and other major retailers.
Recalled items should not be eaten and may be returned to the place of purchase for a refund. Questions may be directed to JBSS customer service at 800.874.8734 (Monday–Friday, 8:30 a.m.–5 p.m. CST)
