Traffic will be rerouted around Mill Creek bridge construction

Columbus County, NC — Drivers should plan for delays and rerouted traffic beginning Monday as NCDOT closes a section of Neils Eddy Road for the start of a bridge‑replacement project. The closure is located in the Delco/Mill Creek area of Columbus County, near the Brunswick County line.

Because the closure is a full shutdown, all through‑traffic will be directed onto the official detour route: Fertilizer Road, which becomes Northwest Road NE in Brunswick County, then Blue Banks Loop Road NE and Goose Neck Road NE, which reconnects with Neils Eddy Road. The detour is expected to add travel time, especially during peak hours.

NCDOT advises drivers to use caution near the work zone, where crews and equipment will be active throughout the project.
