Deputies Connect With Students at Two Career Events in Brunswick County
BRUNSWICK COUNTY — Local deputies spent time this week engaging with students and families at two separate career‑focused events, highlighting opportunities in law enforcement and strengthening relationships with young people across the county.

On Thursday, March 20, deputies participated in Careers on Wheels at Brunswick Community College, where students explored a variety of professions through hands‑on demonstrations and conversations with working professionals. Representatives from the Sheriff’s Office spoke with students about careers in law enforcement, answered questions, and showcased some of the tools and equipment used in daily operations.
“What a fun day,” the agency shared after the event, noting how valuable it was to spend time with young people and discuss the many paths available in public safety. Deputies thanked organizers for the invitation and emphasized the importance of events that inspire future careers while building positive community connections.
The outreach continued at Shallotte Middle School, where the Sheriff’s Office took part in the school’s Career Day. Deputy I. Evans of the IMPACT Unit met with students to discuss what it means to serve the community, the responsibilities of modern law enforcement, and the wide range of roles within the profession.

Evans said the conversations were meaningful and energizing, especially as students asked thoughtful questions about training, service, and future opportunities. “Opportunities like this are always special because they allow us to connect with students, encourage future goals, and hopefully inspire the next generation of public servants,” the agency said.
Both events reflect the Sheriff’s Office’s ongoing commitment to community engagement and youth outreach—efforts that leaders say help build trust, understanding, and interest in public‑service careers.
