Mt. Calvary Center for Leadership Development hosts free wellness series at Bolton Senior/Youth Center
Bolton, NC — Residents looking to take control of their health this spring will have a new opportunity to learn, connect, and build healthier habits. Mt. Calvary Center for Leadership Development is launching DEEP: Diabetes Education Empowerment, a free six‑week program designed to help participants better understand diabetes, improve daily management, and reduce long‑term health risks.
Classes will be held every Wednesday from April 8 through May 18, 2026, at the Bolton Senior/Youth Center, located at 15354 Sam Potts Highway in Bolton. Each session runs from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Led by Community Health Workers Shawn Maynor and Dianne Brown, the DEEP program blends practical education with supportive group discussion. Participants will explore key topics such as:
– Healthy eating and nutrition
– Blood sugar monitoring and management
– Physical activity and movement
– Understanding risk factors
– Building confidence in daily self‑care
– Long‑term wellness and empowerment strategies
The program is designed for individuals living with diabetes, those at risk, caregivers, and anyone seeking to build healthier routines. Organizers emphasize that no prior knowledge is required, just a willingness to learn and take small, meaningful steps toward better health.
“Take charge of your health, one step at a time” is the guiding message of this year’s series, reflecting Mt. Calvary’s commitment to accessible, community‑centered health education. Participants can expect a welcoming environment, practical tools, and encouragement throughout the six‑week journey.
Community members are invited to attend, learn, and grow alongside neighbors who share similar goals.
