Deborah White Hammonds, age 73, of Chadbourn passed away on June 2, 2026 at Lower Cape Fear LifeCare in Whiteville.
Deborah was born on May 2, 1953, to the late Jonathan Moody White and Bertie Mae Millican.
Deborah dedicated her professional life to serving others through her work in healthcare and her local community. She spent 25 years at Columbus County Hospital, where she worked in Health Information Management as a medical coder, earning the respect of her colleagues through her expertise, dedication, and professionalism. After her hospital career, Deborah started her own company, Efficient Coding and Billing, providing contract coding and billing services to several hospitals and physicians offices for 15 years.
Later, Deborah and her husband, Larry, fulfilled a shared dream by opening L&D Quick Mart. For 10 years, they proudly served the Williams Township community, building lasting friendships and becoming a familiar and welcoming presence for neighbors and customers alike. Whether through her healthcare work or her small business, Deborah touched countless lives with her hard work, kindness, and commitment to serving others.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 5, 2026, at Worthington Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Thursday evening, at Worthington Funeral Home.
Surviving family includes her husband of 56 years, Larry Hammonds; children, Tonia Hammonds Irwin (Darrell), Holly Hammonds Faulk (Justin), and Justin Hammonds (Courtney); grandchildren, Lexi Small (Cole), Austin Irwin (Rachel), Addilyn Faulk, Brant Hammonds, Maverick Hammonds; great-grandson, Hudson Irwin; and special friend, Melissa Whaley.
