Community Support Needed for West Columbus High School’s First Spring Fling

CERRO GORDO, NC — The Student Government Association (SGA) at West Columbus High School is calling on the community and local business owners to help make their inaugural Spring Fling a success.

For weeks, students have been arriving early and staying late to coordinate every aspect of the event, from logistics to entertainment. While the vision is in place, the SGA is currently seeking more vendors and food trucks to fill the grounds and provide a full experience for attendees.

The student organizers are looking for local artisans, crafters, and food service providers to join the lineup, which already includes plans for face painting, crafts, and more. Booth rentals are available for a $25.00 fee (vendors must provide their own tent and table), while food truck spaces are available for $40.00. The deadline for interested vendors to register is April 30.

“We truly need you,” says SGA Advisor Whitney Cavenaugh. “It would mean so much to these students to see this event filled with booths, food, and energy. If you’re interested in setting up a booth or bringing a food truck, please reach out directly.”

The community is invited to gather at the West Columbus High School Practice Football Field, located at 7294 Andrew Jackson Highway SW in Cerro Gordo, on Saturday, May 9, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Entry for the event is $5.00, while children aged 3 and under are admitted for free. Supporting the Spring Fling is a direct way to reward the hard work, determination, and civic engagement shown by these young leaders.

For more information on how to register as a vendor or for event specifics, please contact Whitney Cavenaugh at 910.742-.4564 between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
