State investment targets local housing and infrastructure revitalization efforts in Columbus County
Columbus County, NC — On June 12, 2026, Governor Josh Stein and the North Carolina Department of Commerce announced that 13 local governments across the state would receive a total of $13.7 million in grants to support critical community improvements.
Among the recipients are two municipalities in Columbus County, NC: the Town of Brunswick and Tabor City.
The funding is provided through the state’s Community Development Block Grant, Neighborhood Revitalization (CDBG-NR) program, an initiative designed to provide local leaders the flexibility to address urgent neighborhood needs.
“Communities know best where investments can make the greatest difference,” said Assistant Secretary for Rural Economic Development Reginald Speight. “These grants give local leaders the flexibility to address critical needs and make strategic investments that strengthen neighborhoods and improve quality of life for residents.”
The grants awarded in this round, which total more than $13.7 million across 13 projects, range from $693,773 to $2.5 million. Among the local governments receiving these funds are:
