The following incidents were reported by the Columbus County Sheriff’s Office between August 4 and August 5, 2026.

Property Crimes & Fraud

  • Evergreen (August 5): A 60-year-old male victim reported an incident of credit card/automated teller machine fraud on Macedonia Church Road involving $99.84.

  • Delco (August 4): A larceny was reported on Bordeaux Road involving Moore Trucking INC. The report noted a Freightliner truck and $250 worth of fuel, though quantities of the trucks were listed as zero.

  • Whiteville (August 4): A 48-year-old female victim reported a larceny on James B White Highway. An Echo Weedeater (SRM-2620) valued at $300 and tools valued at $300 were reported stolen. A 43-year-old male suspect was listed in connection to this incident.

  • Whiteville (August 4): An incident of obtaining property by false pretenses was reported at the Sheriff’s Office on Washington Street. A 78-year-old male victim reported a loss of $8,400 related to medical insurance and treatment.

Drugs & Paraphernalia

  • Cerro Gordo (August 5): A 41-year-old male was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia during an incident on Andrew Jackson Highway SW. Deputies seized smoking pipes, three cut bags, a roach clip, and 0.01 grams of burnt marijuana from a Toyota Tacoma.

Missing Persons

  • Clarendon (August 4): A missing person report was filed on Lebanon Church Road for 70-year-old Kenny Delwood Cox.

Warrant Services

Throughout the reporting period, deputies served multiple warrants at the following locations:

  • Whiteville (August 4): Three separate warrant services were conducted at the Law Enforcement Center on Washington Street involving male suspects (ages 25, 27, and 39) and one unidentified male.

  • Clarendon (August 5): A warrant was served on Joe Brown Highway South on a 26-year-old male.
