County outlines deadlines, payment options, and available payment plans for residents
Columbus County Government issued updated guidance for residents regarding delinquent property taxes for the 2025 tax year. According to the county, second notices will be mailed at the end of this month, and payments associated with those notices must be submitted by February 28, 2026.
Enforcement actions, including foreclosure proceedings as well as bank and levy garnishments, will begin on March 2, 2026. The county also notes that 2025 taxes were originally due on September 1, 2025, and became delinquent on January 5, 2026.
Residents have several ways to pay their taxes. Payments may be made by phone by calling 877‑768‑4775. online by visiting www.columbus.webtaxpay.com and by mailing payment to PO Box 1468 Whiteville, NC 28472. In‑person payments are accepted at the Tax and Collections office, 306 S. Madison Street in Whiteville.
