COLUMBUS COUNTY, NC — As the 2025–2026 academic year draws to a close, high schools across Columbus County are preparing to honor their graduating seniors. Official commencement schedules have been finalized for both the Columbus County Schools district and Whiteville City Schools, with ceremonies stretching from late May through the first weekend of June.

​Administrators have released specific dates, times, and venue plans to help families, friends, and community members celebrate the Class of 2026.

​Columbus County Schools District Schedule

​The county school system will kick off its graduation events prior to the end of the traditional school year with its early college program, followed by a sequential series of ceremonies for the traditional high schools over graduation weekend.

​Whiteville High School has outlined two separate events to honor its graduating seniors, including the traditional baccalaureate service and the formal commencement exercise.

​For friends and extended family members who are unable to attend the ceremonies in person, regional school systems are leveraging digital platforms to ensure no one misses the milestone. Columbus County Schools plans to broadcast its traditional high school ceremonies live. Viewers can access the live streams via the official district YouTube channel, the system’s central website, and individual school Facebook pages.

​Graduates and their families are advised to maintain communication with their respective school administrative offices regarding individual student ticket allocations. Additionally, while several ceremonies are planned for outdoor campus settings, administration officials have established automatic contingency plans to transition events into designated school gymnasiums in the event of severe or inclement weather.
