Officials remind motorists of slick roadway conditions when rain follows long dry spells

By Coastal Carolina News Staff Writer

Supply, NC — On the evening of July 15, Civietown Fire and Rescue responded to a motor‑vehicle accident involving a report of a possible ejection. Responders determined the driver had not been ejected and was able to exit the vehicle on his own after the collision.

Officials reported that speed was not a factor in the crash.

With the region experiencing extended dry weather, emergency personnel noted that oil and fuel residue can accumulate on road surfaces. When rain returns after a long dry stretch, that residue can quickly become slick and reduce traction. Motorists are encouraged to keep this in mind during commutes and consider reducing speed even more than usual on wet roads.

Injuries were reported, though details are not being disclosed for privacy. Continued prayers go out to the patient and his family, who remain concerned as the gentleman continues to recover.
